GENERAL OVERVIEW
The headquarters of the Grand Port Maritime de la Guyane is located in the town of Rémire-
Montjoly, a few kilometres from the regional capital Cayenne, in the north-east of the territory.
The GPM is made up of the port of Dégrad-des-Cannes in Rémire-Montjoly and the wharves and
docks of the Pariacabo port site in the space city of Kourou.
The GPM is the territory’s main commercial port and handles almost all maritime exchanges,
representing over 90%. It is an essential partner in the economic chain of our territory.
Since January 1st, 2013, the GPM-Guyane has taken up its new configuration of State public
body, with its own governance and employees.
